– Caitlin Moran, How To Be A Woman. (via valjeans)
I just want to keep reblogging this over and over and over and over and over for everyone who keeps moaning that women who have sex or children or drive tractors or eat “too many” crisps or slap people when they’re exasperated or don’t separate their...

In The Introvert Advantage, Dr Laney says that introverts tend to:
Keep energy, enthusiasm and excitement to themselves. Introverts hesitate before sharing personal information.
Need time to think before they respond. Introverts need time to reflect before reacting.
Prefer communicating…
Traditionally, in American society, it is the members of oppressed, objectified...

ellakrystinaxo replied to your link: Rape: let’s take more care when we talk about it
My Criminology department posted this on their facebook. They’ve been reblogging a lot of the feministy stuff I’ve been posting! It’s really encouraging!
Yay, that’s great :)
I find it funny when people say “but it has all its DNA!” So does a human hair,...

10 Questions for Those Who Want Abortion Made... →
canisfamiliaris:
1. How many years do you consider to be a fair prison term for a woman who has an abortion?
2. How many years for a doctor who performs one?
3. What other punishments would be suitable for such a breach of law: a fine, community service, submission to regular pregnancy tests, for instance?
4. Will the punishments be greater the second time around? How else will you handle...
Undocumented Women Forced To Give Birth While... →
bibliofeminista:
Shackling during childbirth is illegal in 14 states and is against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policy. But women being held for immigration-related offenses classified as “criminal offenses” can still legally be handcuffed to their hospital beds by state authorities in the 36 other states. Those women can also be denied the right to have a family member in the...

“When somebody says, “I don’t think women should be raped for wearing short skirts, but what do they expect when they do go out like that?” what you are actually saying is that if a woman in a short skirt is raped, you will be less likely to hold her rapist culpable. Which makes a woman in a short skirt really appealing to a rapist. That’s something that you did. That’s not something the woman...
Sadface.
lesserjoke:
I’m not really feeling up to an argument right now, so I’m not going to reblog the original post… but it makes me so sad to see people describing accents, dialects, or languages as “ugly” or “lazy.” Language is beautiful, in all its forms.
I grew up in a really poor area of northern Italy, Fruili-Venezia Giulia and we spoke Friulan. People made fun of my dialect all the time...
USA Today: The feminist has been portrayed as a woman who was "unhappy, angry, humorless and didn't shave any part of her body," says Terry O'Neill, national president of the National Organization for Women...The stereotype, she adds, "became very powerful." And it's hard to get past for many young women today.
ECHIDNE of the snakes: In what other human rights movement must the members be happy, not-angry and well-shaved to be taken seriously?

USA Today reports young people don’t care about feminism
jessicavalenti:
Prove them different. Comment at the article, tweet at the reporter, or write a letter to the editor. Don’t let the tired “feminism is dead” bullshit fly!
I have a “Never ever ever ever read the comments” rule for myself. Which I frequently break. Today it was a little bit worth it:

I get it—you’re a decent guy. I can even believe it. You’ve never raped anybody. You would NEVER rape anybody. You’re upset that all these feminists are trying to accuse you of doing something, or connect you to doing something, that, as far as you’re concerned, you’ve never done and would never condone. And they’ve told you about triggers, and PTSD, and how one in six...
